Abstract:
Cooperative caching in mobile ad hoc networks
aims at improving the efficiency of information access by
reducing access latency and bandwidth usage. Cache replacement
policy plays a vital role in improving the performance of a cache
in a mobile node since it has limited memory. In this paper we
propose a new key based cache replacement policy called E-LRU
for cooperative caching in ad hoc networks. The proposed
scheme for replacement considers the time interval between the
recent references, size and consistency as key factors for
replacement. Simulation study shows that the proposed
replacement policy can significantly improve the cache
performance in terms of cache hit ratio and query delay

Abstract:
The role of thyroid hormones in DNA synthesis and in the activity of Thymidille
kinase (TK), a key regulatory enzyme of DNA synthesis was studied in proliferating
hepatocytes in vivo. Liver regeneration after partial hepatectomy was used as a
model for controlled cell division in rats having different thyroid status - euthyroid,
hypothyroid and 3,3',5'-triiodo-L-thyronine (T))-heated hypothyroid. Partial
hepatectomy caused a significant elevation of DNA synthesis (p<0.01) in all the three
groups compared to their sham-operated counterparts. Hypothyroid liepatectomised
animals showed significantly lower (p<0.01) level of DNA synthesis than euthyroid
hepatectomised animals. A single subcutaneous close of 1'3 to hypothyroid shamoperated
animals resulted in a significant increase (p<0.01) of DNA synthesis in the
intact liver. 17tis was comparable to the level of DNA synthesis occurring in
regenerating liver of euthyroid animals. In hypothyroid hepatectomised animals, "1'3
showed an additive effect on l)NA synthesis and this group exhibited maximum level
of DNA synthesis (p<0.0I ). Studies of the kinetic parameters of TK show that the
Michelis-Menten constant, (K111) of TK for thymidine was altered by the thyroid
status. K11 increased significantly (p<0.01) in untreated hypothyroid animals when
compared to the euthyroid rats. '13 treatment of hypothyroid animals reversed this
effect and this group showed the lowest value for K111 (p<0.01). Thus our results
indicate that thyroid hormones can influence DNA synthesis during liver regeneration
and they may regulate the activity of enzymes such as 17rymidine kinase which are
important for DNA synthesis and hence cell division.

Abstract:
Urea-formaldehyde resins find numerous
applications in adhesive, textile finishing and moulded
plastic industries. Kinetic investigations of the reactions of
urea and its related compounds with formaldehyde in
aqueous acid, alkaline and neutral media have been carried
out. A thin—layer chromatographic method was developed
for the separation and estimation of the products of these
reactions. Using this technique the various initial steps
in the reactions were analysed and the rate constants have been determined.

Abstract:
The growth kinetics of an aerial bacterial colony on solid agar media was studied using laser
induced fluorescence technique. Fluorescence quenching of Rhodamin B by the bacterial colony was utilized
for the study. The lag phase, log phase, and stationary phase of growth curve of bacterial colony was identified
by measuring peak fluorescence intensity of dye doped bacterial colony.

Abstract:
The functional basis of diabetes-mellitus to a certain extent,
can be elucidated by studying diabetes-induced changes
in metabolic enzymes. Malate dehydrogenase (MDH),
is an enzyme directly involved in glucose metabolism. The
kinetic parameters of MDH and its purified cytosolic isozyme,
S-MDH, have been studied in the liver of streptozotocin-
diabetic rats; also the potential of the leaf extract of A.
marmelose as an was investigated. The
Km of the liver enzyme increased significantly, in both
crude and purified preparations in the diabetic state when
compared to Lhe respective controls. Insulin as well as leaf-
•extract treatment of the diabetic rats brought about a reversal
of K. values to near normal. Vmax of purified S-MDH
was significantly higher in the diabetic state when compared
to the control. Insulin and leaf extract treatment did not
reverse this change. Since MDH is an important enzyme in
glucose metabolism, the variation in its quantitative and
qualitative nature may contribute to the pathological status
of diabetes. The fact that leaf extract of A. marmelose
was found to be as effective as insulin in restoration of blood
glucose and body weight to normal levels, the use of A.
marmelose as potential hypoglycemic agent is suggested.
On-line handwriting recognition has been a frontier
area of research for the last few decades under the purview of
pattern recognition. Word processing turns to be a vexing
experience even if it is with the assistance of an alphanumeric
keyboard in Indian languages. A natural solution for this
problem is offered through online character recognition. There is
abundant literature on the handwriting recognition of western,
Chinese and Japanese scripts, but there are very few related to
the recognition of Indic script such as Malayalam. This paper
presents an efficient Online Handwritten character Recognition
System for Malayalam Characters (OHR-M) using K-NN
algorithm. It would help in recognizing Malayalam text entered
using pen-like devices. A novel feature extraction method, a
combination of time domain features and dynamic representation
of writing direction along with its curvature is used for
recognizing Malayalam characters. This writer independent
system gives an excellent accuracy of 98.125% with recognition
time of 15-30 milliseconds

This paper aims to describe recent developments in the services provided by Indian
electronic thesis and dissertation (ETD) repositories. It seeks to explore the prospect of knowledge
formation and diffusion in India and to discuss the potential of open access e-theses repositories for
knowledge management.This study is based on literature review and content analysis of
IndianETDrepository websites. Institutional repositories and electronic thesis and dissertation projects
in India were identified through a literature survey as well as internet searching and browsing.
The study examines the tools, type of contents, coverage and aims of Indian ETD repositories.The paper acknowledges the need for knowledge management for national development.
It highlights the significance of an integrated platform for preserving, searching and retrieving Indian
theses. It describes the features and functions of Indian ETD repositories.The paper provides insights into the characteristics of the national repository of
ETDs of India, which encourage and support open access to publicly-funded research

Abstract:

Abstract:
This is a study of land use law in India. Land use Controls has been a subject
of controversy since the human settlement. Gamut of control increased with human
development. Now the controls are for many purposes.Nuisance created through various land use was tried to be avoidedthrough the common law controls7. Whether the utility of the activity outweighs
the environmental consideration was the consideration before the court. A
standard definition8 of nuisance could meet most of the problems relating to land
use. Later on, planning and zoning laws brought in major changes. Health, safety
and facilities of others attracted land use controls9. After the Stockholm the sphere
of government interference increased. Several legislations were enacted. Existing
legislations were modified. These come in conflict with the interests of different
sections of society. Coastal Regulations10 and high range protection11 are
manifestations of such unrest. A systematic study on these issues is of current
interest. Exploring of some areas in this respect is also relevant in this respect.
