Abstract:
The thesis entitled Inventory Management In Public Sector Electrical Industry In Kerala. Investigations were carried out on inventory management in public sector electrical industry in Kerala and suggest methods to improve their efficiency. Various aspects of inventory management, its scope and need in industry are detailed. The objectives of the present study concentrates to get an overall view of the system of inventory management, assess the positions and levels of inventory. It analyzes the inventory management policies and practices, the organizational set-up for materials by the electrical undertakings. The study examines the liquidity of the electrical undertakings as well as techniques of inventory management in the electrical industry in Kerala. Hypotheses state that the existing organizational systems and practices are inadequate to ensure efficient management of inventories in electrical industry. Introduction of scientific inventory techniques has a favourable effect on the workings of inventory departments. The financial performance of the public sector electrical undertakings is not at all satisfactory on account of the high raw material costs, heavy borrowings and huge interest burdens. The scope of this study is limited to the assessment of savings, in inventories of electrical products due to inventory management. The methodology of the study is to project the cost reduction of the inventory department on the basis of data collected and to validate this projection with the aid of analysis and survey. The limitations of the study is that the data obtained relate to the period 1989-90 and earlier and the current position is not available and uniform norms cannot be applied to evaluate different inventory management organisation.

Abstract:
The unprecedented increase in competition as well
as protectionism in world markets makes it imperative for a
country like India to get much more energetically involved
in the export business and make the dictum "export and
flourish" a really true proposition, as against a somewhat
passive "export and perish" approach followed during the
last three and a half decades. At present, India needs to
evolve new export strategies to cope with the changing
international scenario and to ensure a steady improvement
in the otherwise sagging export performance. A search for
such strategic measures becomes all the more important in
view of the all-out efforts of the government for expanding
the country's exports to tide over the crippling balance of
payment deficits and to generate necessary foreign exchange
to meet the import requirements for accelerating the tempo
of economic development.
The present study is an endeavour in this
direction. Taking engineering exports as an example, the
study demonstrates alternative ways of understanding
indepth export performance analysis and learning lessons
for better performance in future

Abstract:
NABARD has completed 14 years of operation.ln the light of
its experiences and achievements, the performance ev.ilu.ilion of
the National Bank need to be looked into. This could provide certain
criteria for its strength and weakness which may help in
consolidating the institution for better utilisation of its potentialities.
It is also noteworthy that no evaluative study on the National Bank
has been conducted in Kerala. The Major objective of this study is to evaluate the role of NABARD in catering to the long-term agricultural
requirements of Kerala for 1982 to 1992.This is done by analysing
the quantum and quality of NABARD's schematic
refinance. The qualitative indices like (1) the efficiency of loan
recovery, (2) the impact or financial viability of NABARD refinanced
schemes, (3) the credit gap, (4) the commitment-disbursement gap,
and (5) the imbalances in the NABARD refinance form the core of
the study.Hypotheses were formulated inorder to study and
analyse these qualitative indices. The study is presented in eight chapters

Abstract:
This study is focussed on public and private sector
The study is confined to industrial
Public companies in the states of Kerala and Orissa along with companies in India. undertakings only. sector and private sector
private sector companies in other states were studied. Even
though the original plan of 190 companies as the sample
size could not be accomplished, as the responses were very
poor, but data could be collected frmn 6 public and 5
private sector companies in Kerala, 8 public and 8 private
sector companies in Orissa along with 27 private sector
companies in other states totalling to 54 companies. The
number of years of data collected varies from 2 years to 6
years. Factors which are affecting capital expenditures and
hence leading to the performance of private sector compared
to public sector companies are studied. After the study
and analysis, comparisons are made between public sector
and private sector, and suitable recomendations are made
so that public sector industries can also perform equally
well as the private sector industries in India.

Abstract:
The present study is on
value orientation of professional students•and as such the theoretical value is
inherent and implied. Variation on this value is likely to be limited among
the subjects.
The relevance of the present study is with particular reference, to
management as a profession. In organisational settings motivation plays an
important role. According to McClelland's theory of needs, achievement,
power, and affiliation are the three important needs that help in understanding
motivation. Achieve~ent need may be defined as the drive to excel, to achieve
in relation to a set of standards, and to strive to succeed. Some people have a
compelling drive to succeed. They have a desire to do something better or
more efficiently than it has been done before. McClelland found that high
achievers differentiate themselves from others by their desire to do things
. better. Considering this fact, 'achievement' is included as one of the values
for the study

Abstract:
Teak plantations were initiated in Kerala in 1842, and extended almost
continuously. Among plantations raised by the Forest Department, teak
occupies the largest area and a substantial asset base has been created. Of
late, several teak growing private companies have come up offering investors
high returns from their plantations. However, no study has been carried out
in Kerala on the economic status of teak plantations in the government
forests and prospects of investing in teak plantation ventures in the private
sector. The present study is relevant in presenting the productivity status of
teak plantations in government forests in Kerala and its commercial
profitability. This will be useful to the government for planning management
strategies and investment priorities. The study will also serve as a base—line
information for comparative studies.

Abstract:
Despite various intervensions, artisanal fishermen remain one of the weaker sections in Kerala's society. Host of the welfare and developmental programmes introduced for them had produced very little impact on their living conditions. Further, they are unable to compete with mechanised sector for fishing. Host of the technological development which had taken place after Indo-Norvegean Project favoured the growth of mechanised sector. As a consequence of this, fishing become unviable for artisanal fishermen who propagate the idea of ” sustainable development” in the fishing industry. It is commonly believed that an integrated approach may help them to
improve their living conditions substantially. In the light of the above background the scholar has made an attempt to study the impact of Integrated Marine Fisheries Development Project among artisanal fishermen in Kerala It is realised from the findings of the study that the most important needs of artisanal fishermen arecredit facilities and marketing support. Without marketing linkages effective credit management is not possible. Marketing activities and credit management are interdependent

Abstract:
Organisational commitment of various groups of professionals
seems to be moderated by the differences of the groups as well as of
the socialisation experiences Demographic variable ‘age’ and the
semi-structural variable ‘experience’ cause a difference in the level
of commitment. Similarly, the professional and organisational
differences moderate the level of commitment. From the point of
view of the organisations, the socialisation experiences if differ can
be used as tool to process and enhance the level of commitment of
professionals of various groups. The ‘Socialisation effect’ does not depend on the professional or demographic differences. Socialisation level is moderated only by the
organisational specialities. It is purely an organisational variable.
However, the difference in the socialisation levels as found among
the professionals can cause a significant difference in the levels of
organisational commitment of professionals

Abstract:
The purpose of personal financial management is achievement of personal financial
freedom. It is a stage where finance will not be a hindrance against the fulfilment ofthe
financial objectives of persons. After counting individual values and preferences we
arrive at a standard or normal financial behaviour. Even though individuals differ in
their tastes and preferences, there are a very large amount of commonality among
them. The financial manager should list out the various financial objectives ofthe family.
Then he should make the best choice from among the various alternatives on a priority
based system. In short personal finance is concerned with the way in which a person
manages his income and expenditure to achieve his personal financial objectives. Thus
a proper personal financial planning is essential in every family for attaining financial
discipline in the family. The fall ofthejoint family system, the growing financial responsibilities of modern families, limited chance ofincreasing income, growing population, financial insecurity of the government employees, lack of financial freedom, lack of proper personal financial practice and its awareness, the growing suicide rate on account offinancial crisis etc.,make the study a necessity
